My name is Torie and I am currently a senior in high school. As a teenager just a year older than you were in the movie, I have to commend you on the way you handled your situation. I also respect and applaud your decision to keep the baby rather than go the easier route and abort it.
I know it must have been hard for you, having to put your life as a high school student on hold to have the baby. You should have been playing with your band, hanging out with friends, going to prom with Bleeker, but instead you chose the responsible decision of carrying your baby to term. Did you ever stop to think about how this all could have been avoided if you just hadn't had unprotected sex with Bleeker? Or at least sought out ways to reduce the chances of becoming pregnant? As you now know, having a baby will change your entire life, and it needs careful planning. Become pregnant due to the fact that you had sex because "nothing was on TV" is pretty irresponsible. However, through the situation, I'd say you matured and learned some important lessons about responsibility.
Because you chose to not go down the abortion route, you created a beautiful life. And you gave Vanessa the wonderful opportunity to be a mother, which she had dreamed of being but could not. Your decision to choose the baby's life was a huge gift to both Vanessa and the baby. Just think of that.
